They had Mia's name picked out first. Mia Rose means "My Rose." Jon and Lisa's prayer and desire for Mia is that she would know she is beloved of Christ and that she would choose to make Him her greatest Love (Song of Solomon 6:3).
Honnah Grace means "God's gracious favor." The moment Jon and Lisa learned they were having twins, they were overwhelmed with God's rich blessings, His grace, and His favor on their family. They pray that Honnah will always experience the presence of God and His richness throughout her life.
The day after the birth, Lisa's mom prayed Psalm 20 over the girls:
"May the Lord answer you when you are in distress. May the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May He send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. May He remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. . ."
Our hearts are so full of love and joy over these girls, we cannot stop thanking God for His mercy and goodness toward us!
Lastly with the name explanations, Jon and Lisa felt like the names Sonora, Honnah, and Mia rolled off the tongue well when said all in a row. A row that will most likely be the anthem refrain around here.
