A Momentous Day

The twins are three weeks old today, and today is their due date. They chose, instead, to be born on the birthday of their Great Great Uncle Leonard. He calls them his birthday present.

They've had a lot of changes in these three weeks. They've had their first breaths, diapers, holdings, meetings with relatives, trips outside, stroller rides, and a voyage to church. They have met many new friends and family members. In fact, they have a friend younger than themselves:

Mary Kate and her big sister Ruth Ann are Sonora's aunt's fiance's sister's daughters. Talk about beloved but obscure relatives. We like to think of them as future playmates and long distance chums. Congratulations to the Achesons on their two girls. We're only sorry Mary Kate doesn't have a twin. Better luck next time. ;)

In the meantime, these twins are doing well and getting bigger every day. Honnah went from being the little twin to looking a little bigger than Mia. Sonora is thrilled to see more and more "eyes open," and they still like raising their little heads. We can even start to tell their little cries apart. (Honnah's cry has a higher pitch.)

We're still not sure if the twins are identical. At first, Lisa thought they might be since her research said most identical twins look less alike at birth than fraternal twins. These girlies can't be confused (unless, of course, they were switched at birth, as wondered by a certain unnamed and concerned family member). Lisa is still wondering about it (whether they are identical, she is quite confident that they were not switch at birth). She has compared their hair patterns, and they're pretty different. Because of that, we're guessing they're fraternal. But we're still taking donations for that genetic screening. ;)
